What is the difference between solid wood and veneered blockboard?
Solid wood is timber through its full thickness; veneered blockboard is a core of wood strips faced with a thin wood layer. Blockboard suits large, stable panels, while solid wood goes where strength or carving is needed.
The Opera Wardrobe 3074 by Francesco Pasi uses both: a 25 mm blockboard carcass veneered in cherry, and solid wood uprights 80 mm thick with carving finished by hand.
How is the fretworked bed built?
